Municipal Bonds &Public Policy *Special Topics Course Title: Municipal Bonds and Public Policy************* This class will introduce municipal bonds as a means that America funds infrastructure projects. The course will teach students about the intersection of state and local governments and the capital markets. We learn about the market and municipal credit analysis using case studies (such as the 2013 Detroit bankruptcy), source documents, and quantitative work through Excel modeling. We will feature practitioner guest speakers and introduce students to careers in public finance. The course will spotlight current events, hot topics like ESG and equity in the muni market, and issues from the Chicago region wherever possible.
