Art Based research Methods Offered by faculty members in Art and IDEA, this cross-listed course o#ers an overview of arts-based research as an interdisciplinary, humanistic, and qualitative research methodology. We will use the UIC Art Garden (https://www.anthropocene-lab.com) as a speculative, exploratory laboratory. We will also explore alternative methods of art making by growing and utilizing our own materials. The explorations will include, but not be limited to, kombucha, bees wax, natural dyes, mushrooms, composting, and alternative photographic processes. Professor Geissler is faculty in Art and a member of the Anthropocene Commons. Geisslers work concerns how human actions transform the planet and how those transformations alter our existence. Professor Higgins is a writer on experimental art and founding faculty of the interdisciplinary IDEA program. Moving Image Lab Fee $100.00 Flat Fee.
